The gel is for people with mild to severe erectile dysfunction and is available over the counter
A new treatment for that can work within 10 minutes has launched in the UK.
It is a gel called Eroxon, and has been clinically proven to work for people with mild to severe erectile dysfunction.
Eroxon is made by Futura Medical, a pharmaceutical company based in the UK.
Eroxon is applied to the head of the penis, where the gel evaporates, with this evaporation stimulates vascular and neural nerve endings by rapidly cooling and warming the area. This triggers the release of nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, therefore increasing blood flow to the penis and causing an erection.
The release of nitric oxide is also how other erectile dysfunction (ED) treatments such as Viagra work, but they have the disadvantage of relaxing blood vessels in the entire body, since they are taken orally and not applied directly. This can lead to side effects such as nausea, dizziness and headaches.
These side effects mean people with pre-existing health conditions, such as heart and liver disease, cannot take oral ED pills. They are also not safe for people who have recently had a stroke, and cannot be taken with some prescription medicines.
Dr Hilary Jones, who regularly appears as a health expert on ITV, told: “The word ‘breakthrough’ is often used in health headlines, but new treatments which are truly groundbreaking come along far less frequently. Eroxon is an innovative therapy which has the potential to change the lives of millions of men with erectile dysfunction.”
Dr Catherine Hood, a sexual health specialist, added: “When they were launched back in the 90s, PDE5i medicines were a game-changer, but they are not an option for many men due to pre-existing health conditions, interactions with their prescription medicines or simply because of the time they take to work.”
In a 12-week clinical trial of 250 people, two out of three reported a significant improvement in their ability to achieve and maintain an erection. The figure rose to 80 per cent for those with severe erectile dysfuncion.
The gel is available over the counter, without a prescription. Eroxon costs £24.99 for a pack of four single-use tubes, and is available from Boots stores and online.

Must be over the age of 18 years of medical historyThe U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Thursday that it will stop selling the drug Viagra to consumers after a study found that it can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure, which affects roughly 1 in 10 men over 40.
“This information is a significant step in warning consumers to take the necessary precautions before consuming Viagra,” said Dr. Sidney Wolfe, director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. “This important safety benefit is an important safety concern.”
The FDA advisory committee recommended that the drug be used only for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, which is characterized by reduced sexual desire.
Viagra, also known as sildenafil, is one of several over-the-counter medications sold under the brand name Viagra by a variety of manufacturers. The FDA has not received any reports of serious adverse events from Viagra use, although it has warned consumers not to consume it while taking Viagra.
“The FDA is entrusted with assessing and monitoring the safety of all drugs sold by the pharmaceutical companies that use Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction and to protect consumers from dangerous side effects,” Wolfe wrote in the advisory committee’s report.
The drug, also known as sildenafil citrate, is marketed as the “little blue pill,” and is available in 50, 100, and 150 milligram doses, according to the FDA’s website.
The FDA did not respond to a request for comment.
Viagra was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 1998 for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, but has since been withdrawn from the market for unknown reasons. In 2007, a similar drug, Cialis, was approved for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition characterized by enlarged prostate.
Viagra is also available without a prescription by some online pharmacies.
“Our safety and efficacy are a priority for many of these products,” said Dr. Steven Nissen, director of the U. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
“These products have been in the spotlight for years and it’s important for consumers and doctors to know that they’re safe and effective to use,” Nissen added.
According to a report from the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest, the FDA approved Viagra for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in 2004. The drug is marketed as the “little blue pill” and is available in 50, 100, and 150 milligram doses. The drug is also available in the United States without a prescription by some online pharmacies.
Viagra was introduced as a prescription-only medication in 1998, but the FDA rejected its application because it did not meet the requirements set out by the manufacturer, Pfizer Inc.’s Food and Drug Administration, according to a company release. It also did not meet the requirements for generic versions of Viagra.
“Because of the potential for side effects and interactions with other drugs, consumers should never buy Viagra without a doctor’s prescription,” Nissen wrote in the release.
Viagra was the first prescription-only medication to be approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, but it is not yet FDA-approved for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
“There is no reason to fear that Viagra can be misused for the purpose of treating erectile dysfunction,” the FDA said.
In a statement, Pfizer Inc. said that it believes the safety and efficacy of Viagra are the same as other over-the-counter drugs.
“We understand that Viagra may not be as effective as some of the older drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, and we are committed to the continued safe and effective use of Viagra in patients,” the company said in a statement.
Viagra is available in 50, 100, and 150 milligram doses, and is available without a prescription by some online pharmacies. The FDA is reviewing the safety and efficacy of Viagra in men over 40, according to the company.

Lilly and Pfizer have agreed to acquire two brands of Viagra, both produced and sold by the drugmaker.
The two brands will be sold to Pfizer in three months’ time. But the deal will be inked at a special conference call with analysts and analysts analysts, and it will be announced this afternoon.
A Lilly spokesperson told The Associated Press that the merger will bring Lilly and Pfizer a $250 million dollar share of the company.
The merger would combine Lilly’s U. S. drug division with its U. commercial, sales and marketing division. Lilly’s U. commercial would be split into two separate companies, and its U. brands would be combined with the two companies.
The deal follows a series of financial reports and negotiations involving Lilly, Pfizer and the drugmaker. The companies have agreed to settle thetainted charges.
“The results speak for themselves and we will not hesitate to vigorously pursue any and all opportunities that may emerge for us,” said Les Funtleyder, an analyst at IMS Group.
